.gif images do not move!

Hi all
I just reformated my computer, but now all.gif images on both my hard drive and the internet do not animate.
Please could someone help me with this.

do you have java enabled or downloaded?

I doubt it. Ive just reformated, all I have is a few programs, and drivers

Is it a big file?
