my new computer has what looks like a oversized phone connector use to hook up the hard drive and my old computer used the old ribbon cable how do I hook the old hard drive into the new system

I think the oversized phone connector youre talking about is actually an SATA hard drive connector, its for new hard drives. You can buy adapters that adapt will change the sata over to your old ribbon. Theyre about $15 found on google, or ebay is probably youre best option. Are you sure youre new computer doesnt have any ribbon slots?
