website for it doesnt explain much of anything, try 192.168.0.1, if that doesnt work try dhcp.........chances are its probably dhcp but with just one ethernet port that is kinda strange, typically they have 4 or 5

dhcp=dynamic hosting computer protocol

I know doesnt mean anything to you, what it does is it makes your computer send out a broadcast on the network to any other machine asking for an IP address, which the router should assign to it. The other way is, you pick a permanent static IP and all the router would do is forward the traffic thru itself.

go to start/network connections/local connection/properties.......a new window will popup, click tcp/ip then propeties........it will have a new window showing pick an IP or have it try to find one:
for dhcp choose try to find one
for static or pick your own, enter 192.168.0.1, you will also need the DNS numbers for your ISP, have no clue what those are but a google search should help, or a call to your ISP

chances are good your router will use dhcp

if it doesnt work post back, w/o more info about your gateway or router this could be tough.....an owners manual or user guide would help

most routers these days also allow you to change the ruleset and setup from your browser once its hooked up and working, what port it uses to do this I have no clue, they are all different, a quick port scan if you can get it to at least let you browse the web would show which one it is for sure

also, the 192.168.0.1 IP address while usually pretty common, it isnt always correct, some routers use a different one by default
