On one of my new pc builds trying to burn a dvd results in consistant buffer underruns.

The dvd writer I'm using ina Plextor PX-708a which works well in my other machines. I'm running Nero ver 6.3 with buffer underrun protection.

Other info:

Asus P4P800E Delux
Memory 1 gig of OCZ
Celeron D 3.0 ghz

I have always had two hard drives on the Primary channel and a DVD rom and DVD writer on the secondary channel. I've tried switching the writer to the primary/slave. I have this problem regardless of the recording software. By the way I record at 4x but the record buffer empties every few seconds. The read buffer keeps up with no problem. As mentioed this writer has no problems when installed in my other two pcs. I'm pretty much at a loss. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you

i've had that problem too but after i formatted it always works fine now...that was a few months ago...and i have the exact same mobo..

What did you format?? I did however order a new dvd recorder from Newegg

NEC 16X DVDRW DL ND-3540A BLACK RT

It's a rather confusing issue why the Plextor is acting the way it does. I'm still messing with it.
