need to know wy win xp i,v installed a dvd-rw but win dose not reconise it as a dvd-rw only as a cd-r how can i rectfi this

hmmm... see what brand and model number it is... and go to the manufacturers site and see if they have driver downloads for it...

I think there is some info missing here. You installed a dvd drive that is rw but when you go to my computer it shows up as cd-r? and what happens when you put in dvdrw?

maybe it's just a dvd-rom/cd-rw combo

It should still read as a dvd-rw though.
