some games suck with radeon 9550?

i just got a new video card (new to me). I had a Geforce 4 mx 440 and counter-strike 1.6 looked beautiful with it. I could play Postal 2 and Half-life 2 on the lowest settings and it would look like shit but it would run alright, but choppy, same with Flatout. I just got a Radeon 9550 128mb and the only difference I noticed was Flatout, the game look amazing now and runs so smooth. But all my other games are just the same or even worse. Counter-strike 1.6 runs fine, its just the graphics kinda went down the shitter with this new card, made them all kinda blurry instead of sharp looking if u know what i mean. As for Postal 2 and Half-life 2, I can't even play them because they are so choppy. So my question is, why? I've uninstalled my nvidia drivers and I'm left clueless. I'm thinking I might need more ram but I'm not sure. If anybody could help or has this card, let me know. My system is 1.6 ghz pentium 4, 256 ram, windows xp..

Um you may need to get some good omega drivers.

Dont expect any miracles or high resolutions with that card either, check the recommended requirements for the games you play to see where you are with that older card.
