are raid arrays propriritary to the controller they were made with?

I have an Nvidia Stripe Raid 0 drive set.. Would the drives be Unuseable on a different SATA raid controller? or does it have to be an nvidia..

reason i'm asking is I'm thinking of swapping mobos


sorry.. Raid is one of the areas I have very little knowledge in.
 
No, they are usable on any sata raid controller. embedded into a motherboard or on a card.

sweet! thanks. Ok no worries for me then. however it will be a pain in the ass.. Transfering an OS raid onto a different controller
