Depends on the core, and the heatsink. My Winchester idles around 30, and max under load might get to low 40's, and I have stock cooling.

that's fine for an A64, it shouldn't go above 60 though.

thats fine unless you are overclocking. The max temps for those CPU's are around 80c but most people round here wont recomend you have it running at any more than 60c.

funny thing is, is that this is a new mobo. the one i was running earlier was an AOpen AK86-L K8T000 or something. The cpu idled at 30's and max load was 41. I switched mobo's b/c my dimm1 slot was fried and now it idles mid 40s max load 51.

its plausible that the read out on the previous board was wrong if you know for a fact that something on the board was fried

Did you re-apply the thermal compound properly? With removing the old stuff with isopropyl/anything 90%+ alcohol?

But anyway, they aren't bad temps (not great though.)
