the best microsoft came up with was

what the hell does that mean?
ram is 512 and a good video card

P4 3GHz or higher, 1GB of RAM for a 32 bit system, 2 GB RAM for a 64 bit system, at least 128 MB Video card, 256MB recommended.

my system's old.........p4 2.7 HT, 16 mb intel chipset(extendable to 128) 256 ram,and lost hopes of tryin out vista!

fark, with requirements that high I'll just be sticking to XP. even though my system has the requirements.

No the requiorement are wrong
i run it on my 2GHZ wivb 768mb ram

Those are the recommened requirements from M$ on a testing system. Many people have been able to run it on older systems that done meet those specs. I am just telling you what was said by M4 on this matter. But i wouldnt try it with only 256BM RAM. That would seriously bog down and take about 5 minutes to open a folder.

mine ran fine on a 2.8ghz
