I decided to built a computer for myself and a friend gave me a list so i went and picked out what was close to the list and seemed to match and this is what i came up with. The computer is going to be used mostly for gaming but i'm not hvy into it and my limit was 600+/-.

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Newcastle 800MHz FSB 512KB L2 Cache Socket 754 Processor $193.00 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103483

CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory $79.06

So does everything look alright?? I'm not sure if i'm going to be running lunix or window or not at this point either.
I also didnt know what harddrive to get but i would like to keep it around 250GB? and 100 bucks but cheaper the better..

The network card is wasted money, along with a sound card for this tight budget. You should save money on the harddrive and get 80gb or so.

All the links are dead btw.

With the money you save, get a 6600gt instead. ATI haven't performed as well as they should with the X series.

You don't have a motherboard.

If the case comes with a PSU, it will be rubbish, so you should spend money on getting a good one.

the amd 3200+ venice is only 150 dollars which is newer and cheaper

why are yuo goign s754 s939 is better cause s754 is old and no more are made, just like AGP

lol well i guess i should go with the s939 then.

Honestly a friend on another board gave me this list.
AMd 64 3200+ + motherboard + fan = 210.00
1GB ram = 99.00
Dual Layer DVD -RW = 36.60
250GB EIDE Drive = 88.00
Video card - Geforce 6600 AGP 256 = 118.00
or
Video Card - Radeon X700 PCI Express 256 MB = 110.00
ATX Case/500 watt power supply = 30.00
Audigy 4 Sound card = 59.00
Wired Network card = 12.00
or
Wireless Network card = 30.00.

to go by and he didn't have time to put anything together so i just decided to give it a shot

MSI K8N NEo4-F Motherboard Pci-e 90$
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813130491

AMD 3200+ Venice Core CPU 155$
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103535

Creative Soundblaster Live Sound card 35$
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829102176

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814127147

=620$

+Optical Drives? (30$)
+Misc? (20$)

With the opticals and misc, it will exceed your budget by 70$ . You may not want to go this route, but if you do, you wont be disatisfied.
I assume including shipping, it will be about 700$

sweet man thanks!

I'll prob just go with that unless someone can come up with something better. And what bout a network card and cd rom drive?

but what will the optical drivers do for me? and what bout the misc stuff what would that include..??

Also i have a 40 GB hard drive from the one i got with for my ps2 that they sold for it. Is it possible to use that has a 2nd hard drive??

I already have key board, mouse, monitor ect as well.
