Corrupted hard file

that is a good possibility - your hdd may be damaged. Chances are that this problem would be caused by one of two things. Either bad ram or bad hdd and memetest tests memory and if memtest finds no errors than it would be a bad hdd.

Note: Memtest goes through several stages and it is wise to keep it running for an hour or two to make sure it has tested it all.

Note: Mabye your XP disc is screwed.

I left the memtest on for 3 hours and there were no errors reported.

I am now going to go about looking for a new hard drive.
I will post the outcome of the result when I get a new drive.
Thanks for all the help guys.
My xp disc is fine,it has been tried out on another pc.
