He has 1 gb of ram

420 watt psu

I dont really know whats good these days as I am occupied with school...

So if anyone can provide me with links I would appreciate it....Im looking for a $500 budget or so...Is it possible

Yeah, the graphics card is most important for gaming, and since he has 1GB of RAM, definetly go for that first...a decent one runs for $280-$350 alone. (Everyone will recommend the 7800GT, it seems...)

The processor will run $150 and up, depending on the socket type (939 being more expensive)...and of course you'll need a motherboard to support both, adding another $150.
