I remember reading this, but can not find or remember where... I am building a new pc and am wondering if I should let the components sit for a day so that I can be sure that they are all warmed to room temp. Is this a good idea or just a dumb waste of a day? thanks..

agreed... whoever told you that deserves a slap for stupidity or deception. A motherboard would reach equilibrium with a room in like 20-30 minutes...

the only time you wait is when your going to OC, let the comp run at stock speeds for about a week or so. called 'burning-in' then you can start OCing :D

The only things you really need to worry about getting up to room temperature are hard drives, this takes 30 min max

You may be thinking of a burn-in period...generally running hardware for about a week allows the silicon to expand and in some cases will yield better overclocks

Just letting parts sit around though...yeah, that's a no
