Good Deal or not?

Just a side note here, looking at Best Buy's ad (that came with newspaper),
$599.98 after rebates for the same thing except it has:
250 gb hdd [vs 200]
ati radeon xpress 200 graphics
17" flat-screen monitor
1GB of memory

Just thought I'd mention it...and that was with no 'shopping around' on my part!

I've been to best buy, I've seen it there. The thing is, I don't want that crappy monitor, I want a nice 19" viewsonic. Hmm, one gig of mem eh?

maybe I'll get that and get a new monitor for my b-day, because all together my othero ne is like 1000$, but that one will be around 800...

it's not on sale anymore, and it's doesn't come with the monitor.
it's like 650 now for it.

May I ask why you are deciding to not build a computer and buyinga Brand Named one? It's not a flame I was wondering why.

Any brand-name computer over 300 dollars is a rip off, I say wait till it goes on sale. The stuff in there definately isn't worth that kind of cash, if you just want it because you want to add stuff to it you are better off getting a barebone system or just compeltely building one yourself, but in this case it seems like you don't want ot do that. I say its a bad deal considering specs/price.

Congratulations on jumping the gun, but I'll give you some reasons.
1) I have added together all costs and have found out that it's 150 dollars more to build my own.
2) my parents don't know much about computers, and think that if I build one and something breaks the world will be over.
3)I am too lazy to build one, and when I get it I don't want to spend time piecing it together and waiting for the software to download, I wan't to frag some n00bs in counter strike source and battlefield 2.

if these aren't good enough reasons, I don't know what to say, but I'll probobly just ignore you from there on.
