Hi, I've recently been having trouble reformatting my computer. Originally I had problems getting all 3 SATA drives to be recognized, now I finally have it recognizing all 3. After it formats the C drive to NTFS file system it proceeds to install windows from the CD. It gets stuck on Perftype.exe, and a bunch after that. So my question is, is this most likely related to the CD being corrupt, or a hardware issue?

Also after each time it fails do i need to reformat the C drive or can i just skip the formatting?

i'd say that your CD is stratched

try to just get an illegal version of XP off file sharing, or call windows, and maybe you can get a deal off an XP cd

A very similar thing happened to me when I tried to reformat my computer a while ago. When I looked at my disk, I noticed it had a funny mark on it. I just burned a new copy of the disk, and then it worked fine.

scratched disc or cheap cd rom. they are making some cheesy cd rom these days. they can't read files off of cds or dvds
