okay tell me guys whats better than an antec truepower 480?

Oh sorry, whats better than the last two antec's i had?

Okay, so instead of buying a motherboard that doesnt have short curcuits youd rather have me buy one of your awesome power supplies (no doubt in excess of £100) just to test the theory?

Everytime I unplug a usb device the psu fails. I thought I made that fairly obvious. If you dont like antec fine but its obvious that the psu isnt the cause of the problem, its just the result.

i bought its 4th new psu today which spent a glorified 2 hours running before promptly exploding in my face.
.

seems like your psu exploded in your face...

a man of 3000 forum posts should now be capable of reading that I know what the problem is, he should also be capable of reading the question i am asking (which isnt "whats wrong?", its "what hardware should i get for replacement with my budget, any ideas") and thirdly if you dont like my question or cant answer anything useful then please save both me and you some time and skip to the enxt thread ok?

Ive determined by now it isnt the psu. It is a short circuit that is evidently causing the psu to break, which is located on the south usb slot andthere is physical damage there. The only option is to buy a new motherboard. This ties with my original post (scroll UP) because I was considering upgrading anyway. It is merely a statement that I now ahve to upgrade motherboard whether I like it or not and therefore a chance for people to advise me on their favourite hardware that performs.

Im not here to start a flamear but it would help to be relevent.

:) is it really that much?

Wow i may be able to build up a half decent machine

Anyone know the prices of ati 9800's these days? i looked and theyr about 300 pound but i dont know how old the pages are, and do anyone know how performance differences are between 9800, x800 and x700 etc, (well any difference really?) i guess the x serieis is what came after 9800?

9800 pro then 9800XT then X300 then X500 X600 X700 X800 X800pro X800GTO X800GT02 X800XT X800XL X850 X850pro X800XT PE X850 XT PE
X1800XL, X1800XT

the 9800pro cost around 130 USD

9800pro being the oldest X1800XT being the newest

the X800 parts arent in order it goes like X800 X800pro X800GTO X800GTO2 X800XL X800XT X800XT PE X850 X850pro X850XT X850 XT PE

As far as I know, 9800s are retailing for around £100 nowadays. Nvidia's 6 series are better than ATi's Radeon X--- series though, so go with either a Radeon 9800 or a Geforce 6600GT.
