What benches better? I'm getting a dual pci-e x 16 ready mobo and I was either gonna get 1 6800gt or 2 6600gt's.

6800GT

The GeForce 6600GT seemed to scale reasonably well, with a pair of 6600GTs outperforming a single 6800 Ultra in Doom 3 and Half Life 2. It doesnÂ’t make too much sense to buy a pair of 6600GTs today however, as youÂ’d be much better off getting a single 6800GT and upgrading to a second one down the road, which brings us to our next point, the upgrade value of SLI.

well two 6600GTs wont be very good for long, if you get 1 6800GT this means you can upgrade to another 6800GT

that mobo is ok i wuold go with MSI or DFI but gigabyte is good for just a regular system, are yuo going to be OCing

seems like your going for a whole new build can i see the specs :D

I personally would go for 1 6800gt, just because SLI isn't the greatest invension in the world, as all it does, is split the screen in half, horozontaly, and one card does the top, while the other does the bottom. And if there is water on the bottom half, which is harder to create, the bottom card, has to slow down, and because both cards have to produce the same amount of FPS, the top card can't create more FPS there, and they can't share the load equally.

Im iffy on the cpu. Oh yah add a 6800gt. What's the best brand for money/perfomance benefits? Any modifications to the list is welcomed. I think this will be my self christmas present. My budget is around 1400 so dont go too far over. thanks!

edit: I can just have one slot with a gfx card right? It isn't going to just do the top half by itself is it and nothing for the bottom half?

looks good to me, but i just say that you wont be able to OC 1:1 you will have to run your memory dividers

stick the GFX on the top slot of your mobo and you dont need 2, 1 video card wil do it.

do you have a psu in mind ?

You won't have any bottleneck on stock settings, but if you are going to overclock, your ram will be. Valueselect does not like to OC. Your psu, i wouldnt go for it. I would be going with a nice Antec. If you have money buy this one.Antec NEOpower 480W power supply

OR

Antec TRUEPOWER 480W power supply

If money is a big problem to you, then you should go with this one.

Forton 450W power supply

Good Video Card companies are; Leadtek, eVGA, Gigabyte, BFG, MSI, not XFX :D
