Ok. I have a serious problem on my hands. I bought an Averatec 3220H-01 about 3 months ago. Before you say send it back to get it repaired, I can't because my warrenty expired (it's a refurbished laptop). Ok, last night I was reinstalling XP on my laptop and it just suddenly shuts off. I tried to turn it back on, but it wouldn't. There was no battery in it, just the AC Adapter. I put the battery in it, and it turned on. Tried it with the AC adapter, and it wouldn't charge the battery. I called averatec and they said its either the AC adapter or the computer (well no shit). So, now I am stuck with no laptop at all. I use it every day and I would have to see it get thrown out because Averatec doesn't know how to build laptops. Anyways, does anyone have any advice for me?

Thanks

Okay, this happens with alot of electronics put under the right conditions. I have a few questions.

Would you be OK with taking apart a laptop for a simple repair?
Are you fammilar with soldering?

What I believe (and see this often in all electronics) is that where you plug in the power, the solder comes loose from the plug.

I also have the same laptop and my joint is starting to go as well...
