i have posted about this before and deleted it, but here goes...

my friend has a computer made in 1995 according to the boot screen. he wants me to put windows 98 or 2000 on it, and it currently has NO O.S.

since its made in 1995, it doesnt boot from cd-rom. It does have a cd-rom btw.

If somebody could give me instuctions on how to fix it, it would be greatly appreciated.

perhaps i should just get a windows 98 boot disk from the internet?

this computer is so old, it doesnt support booting from cd-rom

all it lets you boot from is hard drive, or floppy disk :(

you said u found the PC is 1995 from the bootscreen, are you sure that is when the system was built? or the BIOS?

btw, if it is that old, I doubt it will be fun to use it... you don't have a decent OS, all your programs are probably outdated....

anyway, to answer your question:

1) get a CD rom the system can run with, I doubt you can find a floppy disk version of 98 or 2k (or they even exists)...

2) get the OS startup disk (depends which OS you got), boot with that, then it should start loading the CD rom and install your OS

I might be wrong, it is really awhile I get hold of a 98 or 2k OS :)

get a dos boot disk with CDROM support, boot from that and just type in:

cd win98
setup.exe

and it will start up windows 98 setup.

i just downloaded a windows 98SE boot disk from bootdisk.com

what do i do from there? copy the file to floppy?
