I assume your mum isn't a gamer and this pc will be used for general email checking, sending embarrissing photos to realitives and thats about it?

So A celeron/sempron would be better suited, as it is cheaper, and will do above fine.

1gb of ram is overkill forn running a OS and IE and outlook.

I doubt she would use up a 250gb hdd unless she will be recording TV on it (explains media edition of XP.)

No power supply? You will need a 24pin one.

I have a ps with 24 pin, she likes taking digital pics, and the 250hd was so close to a 160 I said what the heck. I am a photographer and have filled 2 200gigs, and a 250 gig in the last 6 months, so know they can fill up fast. I realize she is not shooting 12 mp pictures and doesnt do it professionaly but at least this way will be happy for a while.

Her curent system is a 4 gig hard drive.

Like Trifid said, you can a much cheaper system if all your mom's going to do is play with photopraphy. 512mb ram and a sempron is sufficient.

if you can fit 1GB in the budet, 1GB is nice. stop making him get 512

If you are running XP and digital photography software I would recomend sticking with the 1 Gig of ram.

Thanks, I ordered the 1 gig I dont live very close so easier to upgrade now than later.
