Hi all. I have Solme old Pentium II ulstra slim laptop. I have usb CDRW for it. It is very annoying that I need to plug the cdrom to power also (not just usb). I know that Usb by itself gives out 5v. But it's limited to 500mA. I tried taking power out of usb, It worked on my destop PC (gave out 2A w/o problems). But my laptop shuts down whole usb hub in the second i try to take away 2A.

I know that Pcmcia slot contains 3.3v. But does it contain 5v?
Any1 know where to find pinout of Pcmcia slot?
TIA.

Of course I can solder 2 wires out of pcmcia slot, and make a simple plug to power the cd-rom. This would be much easier than bringing another wall adaptor. Especially when I run my laptop off batteries - I have no way to turn on cdrom at all.
