Will my cpu get the most out of my gpu?

I've recently built a new computer and it consists of

Amd atlon 64 3700+ (2.2 GHZ!!!)
Asus-SLi Deluxe nForce4 (Socket 939)
GeIL 1GB PC3200 Value Dual Channel Kit
Nvidia Geforce 7800 GTX

1) There was a test in my pc format magazine and it showed loads of processors goin 1 on 1 against each other now there were some pentiums there which were at like 3 ghz + and dis atlon 64 3700 (2.2ghz) Beat them at the games so can some1 plz explain.

2) Will tha cpu get the most out of the gpu?

Ghz don't mean anything anymore,

Pentium 4 @ 3Ghz = AMD @ 2Ghz = (mac) G4 @ 1.6Ghz

amd utilizes the clock cycles better rather than going for higher numbers and macs operating systems work faster...
