Lightscribe not functioning

ok, i have been having some issues with my benq lightscribe drive.
it burns cds and dvds just fine, but when i goto use the lightscribe function, no matter wether its lighscribe dvd or cd, it says that it cant read the encoded center to make sure that it is a lightscribe disk and to clean it. i have tried multiple disks and still nothing.
any ideas?

Did you flip it upside down?

yes i followed the directions on using lightscribe. lightscribe service is running.

i think i will try uninstalling the service and nero tomorrow after work and then reinstall, seeing if that will help. Originally I had a different version of nero (the copy that i was able to burn dvd and cds with orignally 6.6 from college) and now i have the nero oem that came with the drive..... so I am not sure if maybe the software is messed up or if i need to update the firmware on the drive.

i have reinstalled software and still the same issues, any ideas?
