Just as the topic says. I bought a book on how to build one, w/ how to pics and everything. I just have no idea on whats good. I need everything but a keyboard mouse, and a monitor. I would also like it to have a CD/DVD burner.

Thanks

Are you going to overclock you ram? If not just get 2GB Corsair Value or something like that.

Look for a DVD Burner on newegg, good brands are like NEC and Plextor.

Don't forget speakers or a headset.....

Speakers- Logitech Z-5300e 5.1 - $150

Headset- Icemat Siberia - $80

Sweet thanks guys. Um, I'm really not sure what overclocking is, so I dunno if I will be doin that.

Oh yeah, don't forget Windows XP and AS5.......and a high quality case too.
wtf.......oh I clicked quote instead of edit....LOL

$1200 is the same amount of money I spent on my system.

If you are getting a single core processor, then the FX-series is the way to go, FX-53 is very good but it has overheating problems with stock heatsink even at normal clock speed. (650+new heatsink) If you are going to get a lower end proccessor then you might want to use the dual-core ones, you can get a decent one for around 500$.

DFI LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR ATX AMD Motherboard (180)

Ultra/Cooler Master Case(70+PSU *optional*)

Nvidia 7800GTX (I know you can get those for around 450 dollars if you look around)

WD 200GB HD 80$ with Rebate

Since most of the new games do not require a CD to Play or has most files already isntalled to your computer, an old CD-Rom would be a better choice than a new one.

Ok I know that is over $1200 but the few extra bucks will be worth it, you don't wnat ot regret spending 100 dollars less for your video card realizing that if you ran SLi you'd probably need two new cards anyways because your current one sucks.

Motherboard; DFI Lanparty nF4 Ultra-D - $128.

Processor; AMD Athlon 64 3700+ - $267.

Memory; 4 x 512MB OCZ EL Platinum Revision 2 DDR400 - $333.

Video Card; eVGA GeForce 6800GT - $289.

Case; Thermaltake Tsunami - $115.

Power Supply; Rosewill 500W - $39.

Total; $1171 without CD/DVD drive, Hard Drive, and not counting shipping. Will go over $1200 probably, so you should probably go with 1GB of the RAM.

ty flanker but i would go with this ram
