im building a new computer and was looking at video cards and came across this-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814103169R

im wondering if this is a good idea or not any help would be appreciated thx in advance.

Does anyone actually know what it is that they refurbish? I mean I know what parts get added to a refurbished car Alternator etc... But what do they replace on these cards? Blown caps?

Pretty much anything that gets returned can be a refurb. If you open a box & RMA it, they can sell it as a refurb.

The only problem is, you don't know if it WAS used or not... and some yahoo may have put the video card in his system, pumped up the settings in an attempt to OC it, and then returned it. It may last a day, or a week, or not very long at all.

when its refurb it has been retured and they checked to see if it was working then put it back on the market

Refurbs get too much bad rep, actually refurbs are generally not bad because before they leave the manufacturer they get more testing than your average new video card... (or any product for that matter).
