Bad temperature reading, most likely. Update your BIOS from the motherboard manufacturer's website.

If it doesn't work, try reseating your heatsink, it might not be making very good contact with the CPU.

More specific details are needed as there are many variations of the 3800+ floating around

If it is a Manchester they consume much more power than single core processors and on stock cooling 52C doesn't seem too ridiculous if you ask me...a Venice on the other hand would be getting kinda hot although the 3800+ still uses more default power than 3500+ and lower processors

As I said it depends on the core and what type of cooling he has going on...52C isn't considered dangerously hot though

once you reach above 60C then you got trouble

resit heatsink get some AS5 and maybe a third party heatsink

AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~2.0GHz

Tahts all i can come up with, from dxdiag. It only runs up to 52-53C when using mandriva, i dunno why.

Other wise it runs 32-43c.
how do i check what core i have?
