Reformat?? huh?

I finally figured out how to boot from a cd and i did and i put the xp cd in and stuff i was trying to reformat i already had xp ( home ). Anwyays i followed the steps and stuff and when it was done everything was the same all my programss till here login the same. any help?

You need to reformat it using a windows 98 bootdisk from www.bootdisk.com and then install. What you did was in place install and most things are just set back to default with your programs still there. Or all of those programs are there but you cant use them. Is this the case?

What are you talking about when you reformat you lose all data.

Download it
Execute it to the floppy
boot from the floppy
select 1

fdisk

delete the partitions

add new ones

rebooot


boot back to floppy

reformat

then reboot and install xp

think u could also explain a little more in depth im new to this i dont know what a partition is
