So, I know very little about this subject, when it comes to building. Im trying to keep the total price under $1000 US. With what I have listed below, the price is around 950 with shipping.

I want this computer to be a high end gaming machine, I dont want a dual core processor, and I never plan to overclock anything. Take a look at what I have lined up and let me hear your suggestions, or any compatibility problems or just anything i've left out.

Thanks!!

yeah, the video card thing is still up in the air. Nice find on the hard drive, and do you have any recommendations for a CD-Rom? Oh, and I nearly forgot about a floppy drive...

Also, the case apparently comes with a 450 watt power supply, and fans? Is that enough for cooling?

Sony, Pioneer are meant to be good brands, i currently have a Sony 800-DUA great burner and came with a good bundle of software.

Any floppy drive is fine.

Cases and power supply really anrent my thing but im sure there are people here who will help.

I think you need a better psu than the one with the case. Look for bth high wattage and >18A on the +12V rail.

Its not the wattage that is important. Its the manufacturer. The generic ones will display a peak wattage and a peak amps on the rails. This means you are going to have to pay out for a good PSU. Even if it is a lower wattage, it is a guarenteed wattage, that it can maintain. Good companies are Antec, Thermaltake (these are very reasonable priced, but people who own one say they are great.) Enermax, Seasonic, and I just brought the Hiper type R (don't think it is readily avaliable in the US, but they are extremely popular in the UK.) And for the extreme overclocker, pc power & cooling.

And if you use a cheap one, it does take out hardware. I have had a personal experience of this on friday at a friends house. I put my hdd in to get it formatted and to get xp on it, as my cd drive doesn't work anymore. And the harddrive was on fire! It also took out one of his cathodes, and his PSU now creates a bad smell.

With a good company this will not happen, as there is protection against it.

(Btw use this as a guide for a minimum wattage: http://www.jscustompcs.com/power_supply/ and as said above, 18a on the 12v rail is a minimum for a AMD 64 rig.

btw, dont pay shipping, shop at zipzoomfly, if u dont live in california, u pay no shipping or tax on anything cept for the case, gives you more money to spend on ur system :D
