Hi everyone, relative newbie here. I upgraded my mobo and CPU(new barebones system) and retained my HDD, video card, DVD-RW in the new build. Is it possible to just swap in the old HDD (and old components) into the new computer? I' m getting an error that windows did not start successfully and i'm given the options of restarting in safe modes, last known good config, and start windows normally. None of these options work. In the setup screen, CMOS features- recognized my HDD and DVDRW. If i set my HDD jumpers to master, then the computer doesn't even get to the error screen (post?).

I'm using OS - windows XP pro
Bios relatively updated 2/2005

my new build:
Biostar 210P SFF, mobo- AMD socket 754, 800/1000 MHz FSB, 1GB RAM
processor - Athlon 64 2800+ newcastle
video card - ATI radeon 9500 128 mb
HDD - WD 80GB, 7200 rpm, 8mb cache

old Build:
Aopen mobo - AMD socket A, 266 MHz FSB, 512mb RAM
Processor - Athlon 1 GHz Thunderbird
same video card and HDD as above

I searched the forums for help, but didn't see anything. Anyone know how i can get my old HDD(and OS) to work with my new build? Thanks for reading.
