Telephony Service?

For a while I have been having cpu hogging svchost bothering me upon my computer's return from hibernation. Recently I disabled a service through msconfig called Telephony. And now whenever I return from hibernation it isn't hogging any of my cpu!!! Personally I have no idea what the hech this program is or what it does. I dont know if I should keep is disabled. If anyone could provide some insight to this problem it would be appreciated! Thanks....

And the problem was?

The fax svc. was the proablem I unloaded it from the windows componets in add/rmv. prgms. and now everything is peachy!!
