My Optical (Laser) mouse don't turn off

What this means is that if the computer is asleep or something then moving your mouse wakes it up

if the mouse is usb using a ps/2 adapter remove the adapter and plug it into a usb port. i would be happy if someone could find a solution to this too. it happens on my grandads computer and he keeps hounding me about it.

I know it's not gone a destroy the mouse in the near future but I still would love to sleep without this small light in the room.
my mouse is PS/2 with wire.
I don't think it's the mouse that causes this but the mother board because in my old computer it started after replacing the motherboard
