in need of a small/efficient fan help!!

My new 6600 gt is really heating up my system and my games wont function properly for more than an hour.
What type of ports would a fan take up and how would I check if I have free space/ports for em?

my computer is aged about 4 years but I recently added a stick of 512 ram and a 6600 gt.
specs:
amd athlon 2000+
400W psu
basic fans (cpu, gfx card, psu)
via kt 266a mobo

I have been hitting 70+ deg c after about an hour of gaming so and 55 deg idle. what is a stable temperature I should get?

If you really want it to be cool, check out an aftermarket heatsink/fan on Newegg. Here's a good one:

You can also put one of these things in the slot next to your card, and from what I've read, they seem to do the job quite nicely:

Adding an exhaust fan will help as well.

Most cases have a spot for an 80mm fan in the rear of the case, and they are not expensive at all.

the exhaust blower takes up a pci slot correct?

well, it takes up the port access, but not the slot. But yeah, you're killing the use of an expansion slot.
