ntfs.sys file problem

im having this problem everytime i try to reformat. and im reformating because windows wont start. anyways when the reformating gets to the part where u cant delete, repair, creat new partition screen, right b4 it checks the harddrive and gives me a weird error message about my ntfs.sys file not being there or being corrupt, and tells me to go to window and change some options, but i cant get to windows. if anyone knows how to get me around this problem so i can reformat and get a new partition created, thanx

Use a 98 boot disk to get into dos and use fdisk to blow the partition away then format in dos.

how do i use fdisk?? i havnt used dos in a real long time and i cant remember.

Boot from the bootdisk

start computer with cdrom support

type fdisk

delete the partition using 3 then 1 2 or 3, depending how it was formatted.

Then create the partition by choosing 1 twice. reboot

Then try to install XP
