In some cases you have to call Microsoft to activate. There should be a toll free number on the activation screen for you to use.

Hopefully Ya did a "Clean" Install of XP.

redhead,if xp was put on another system etc install xp,, call 1 800 number, they will give you a challenge key,,if needed I have key viewer/changer.I do not know rules on posting files.so let me know, be more then happy to send to you, also have Jellybean,which will let you view OS key.

When i try to activate on the screen prompt, it comes up, but is blank. there is a small box in each upper corner that has three different colored shapes. no fill in blanks..nothing! did i miss something on the install of the upgrade?

Redhead, try re-installing again,,if message comes up,xp is found etc, do you wish to repair hit yes, if not reinstall xp.

let us know,In my opinion, something got corrupted.

one of the best things MS has done is include "repair OS" in the OS CD, maybe they can try and create a better OS next time (like Mac) so you don't need it!
