Little question about my Mobo

In the manual, it says:

"Warning:
Make sure to turn off your computer prior to connecting or
disconnecting a mouse or keyboard. Failure to do so may
damage the system board."

Do I really have to do that? I've been connecting mouses and keyboards for ages and nothing has ever happened... Is this one of those "it's best to" things or does the DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D actually require me to do that?

Yeah same here, i dont know why it would damage the board. However, i got a crap board anyway, so maybe it dont matter(ASRock P4V88), never before has my comp gotten jacked up cuz i inserted a mouse or keyboard.
