I think what my step dad got was a mobo that was doa or defecive and the guy who original had it pawned it on him. how many old school mobo's require a processor of 3 ghz or higher?

Old school as in how old? I dont think that there is a motherboard requireing at least 3ghz. Its a matter of how much they can handle. Motherboards are backward compatible.

well we bought it like 6 months ago and i assume that guy had it for at least a couple of months but my step dad threw that exscuse that my processor blows. i have a p4 2.5 ghz. so im like i need a new mobo cus i have a dell one (totally sucks for upgrading) and hes like you need at least a 3.0 proccesor.

im going to try it again but how do you know the amount of pins on the processor? is it written on it?
