could you give me an opinion on which system is better. They are both very similar, I think.

What are you going to do with the PC?

Btw network cards are onboard, so that is a waste of money. Onboard sound is pretty good (obviously, if you are going to use the pc for recording music, you will want a sound card.)

If you are not overclocking, get the cheapest PC3200 ram you can find, it will not make a difference.

If you are gaming, get the 6600gt.

I would change the 40gb to a 80gb, as it does fill up with XP.

Who makes the mobo in setup 1?

I hope they are both venice cores.
 
Either would be fine. 6600 is a nice card, if there is anyway possible, I would go with 6800GT, or for about $40 cheaper, sacrifice a little bit and get X800XL.
 
Number 2, but those setups are virtually the same. What is the difference between the two besides 2x40 gig HDD, and a single 80 gig?
