Dvd Burner Weird Problem Help!

Ok... Its my dvd burner, Its been working fine till i reinstall xp, i installed nero and every time i put in a 'blank' cdr it says.. please insert a blank disk?! it does it with every cd burning program, i dont understand, it worked before i installed xp again.. and The firmware is updated so it couldnt be that! Please help!

Do you have any errors in your device manager ?
Have you tried updating or changing drivers ?
Does it read dvd's normally ?

no errors in device.. and yeah it reads all disks

What app are you using ? Nero/Roxio ?

I know this is the most obvious thing, but are you sure it is a blank disk?

YES! LOl ive used about 10 different blank disks
I knew someone would ask that!

hmmm :/. i don't suppose you run linux? because if you could test it in linux you would have a pretty definitive answer. a) similar sort of result=drive at fault b)burning works=windows/software fault
