IDE Channel Configuration

Hey all,

Quick question, I have 2 hard drives, a DVD-ROM, and a CDR. I also have 2 IDE channels (as should most pc's these days...), and am wondering what is the best config for optimal performance.

(1) Place both hard drives (my bootable one master, game/data disk secondary slave) on the Primary IDE Channel, and DVD-ROM as master, CDR as slave on the Secondary IDE Channel, OR

(2) Place bootable HDD as master, CDR as slave on Primary IDE, game/data HDD as master, DVD-ROM as slave ont he Secondard IDE Channel.

So, whats the best config to follow?

Harddrives On one IDE cable, Optical drivers On the other.

I prefer to do it the other way, since with your way hard drive to hard drive transfers, or accessing both hard drives at the same time is not as fast

but what about cd to harddrive then like burning or copying of the cd to the hd?
