Windows and BIOS dont not have anything to do with each other. However, you PC won't detect the hard drive at all untill its installed in the BIOS. If this is a new HDD, you should have a floppy disk that came with it. In the BIOS screens you should be able to install the hard drive from the disk. However this is probably not going to be a formated drive and will not have an O/S on it. So you will need to get something to format it with and install an O/S on it like windows.
