Need a little advice here...

I've been using Asus boards for 5 years now but someone was telling me to stay away from the newer ones.

Im looking at the 939 socket.

Does anyone have recommendations about which brand is the most reliable?

thanks.

MSI out of the three. what are you going to be doing, gaming? do oyu need SLI. OCing? etc etc

MSI K8N NEO4-F

Its for a friend actually, and he wont be doing any OC'ing or using SLI.

This is what Im putting together for him, within his budget...

  • AMD Athlon 64 3200+ w/ 512K Cache (Socket 939 - Retail Box )
  • BFG GeForce 6600 GT OC 128MB GDDR3 PCI-E w/ HDTV-Out, Dual DVI
  • plus a Gig of RAM

He wants the HDTV card to use his 60' tv as a monitor. And he does game as well. Nothing too hardcore, the poor boy is still stuck on RTS games! Quake 4 is coming...ill convert him. :p

MSI is solid, never heard bad things, personally I love Giga-byte, but apparently some people here have had problems.

My vote goes for either of them, but don't touch the asus with a pole of any length.

awesome, thanks for the quick input. I was thinking about the Neo4. I believe that is the best bet. Though, it sells for 119 here in Calgary.

Thanks,

I think by thte time you convert that to Cdn. dollars, add shipping and taxes, its about the same.
