Okay, I put the barebones parts into the computer, the CPU, RAM, and video card. Since my MB doesn't have on-board video, I have to connect it to the video card of course.

Here's my specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice Socket 939

MSI K8N Neo4-F Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4-4X ATX AMD

MSI NX6600GT-TD128E Geforce 6600GT

CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200)

When I boot the system, the fans turns on but the monitor sits there. I have a monitor that came with a desktop computer I got a while ago, but it should still work. The monitor's LED turns on for a split second but nothing happens. I've reseated the RAM and the video card, but still nothing happens. The only thing I haven't done is clear the CMOS. I'm not sure how to take out the battery and I don't want to yank it out or anything.

Well there is obviously something wrong.

1)Make sure (i dont know if S940 needs this) u pluged the Square power connecter into your motherboard, there is a long rectangle one.. but on some sockets u also need to plug in a small square one.. its like 1cm x 1cm in dimentions.

2)Make sure ur CPU is Seated Properly. (Take off the heatsink and take the cpu out and make sure u put it in properly, remember to lower the arm to secure it.

Thank you!!! I needed to plug in one of the 1cm x 1cm power connectors.

I have one question, though. Since I have a optical mouse, I need to install it to the new computer before it works, right? Would I do that before I install Windows somehow or do I need to install Windows first?

No, the mouse should work fine.. for memory windows loads all the dirvers needed befor installation. every PC i have installed windows on let me use my optical mouse during installation.

Nps for the advice. :)

Okay, I have a new problem. My HDD is coming up as the fourth master instead of the primary master. I'm using SATA. My DVD-RW comes up as the second master primary. In addition, should I see the floppy on that list also?

I should mention that I'm using a Western Digital 80GB HD with 7200 RPM with SATA.

Connected to the hard drive are a SATA cable that came with the motherboard and a SATA power connecter that came in the case. Should there be something else connected, and if so, what is it?
