$1000 budget

I've built my last computer that was ages ago its a PIII 800Mhz, 512MB
SD Ram.....

Now I'm looking to buld a new one. Fresh start I would need a monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers. I need some advice. I've been out of the loop and haven't been really researching about the newer technology. Also would my old case and power supply be able to power the new mobo?

I dunno if I should go with a 64bit or 32bit, AMD or INTEL, also I want the mobo to support usb 2.0 also.

I'd like the computer to be able play some of the new games I want a decent vid card that will allow me to drag a screen from my monitor to a TV. Probably ATI or if there something better let me know. Also TV tuner.

1gb of ddr ram.

I do a lot of downloading so I want a large HD. SATA (if its any better).

I was thinking of a Flat screen 19" also -> I saw an ad for FRY's viewsonic 19" for $300.

I want a decent sound card also where I can use a remote to control winamp or media player. I don't know if the remote works with the vid. card or sound card. Digital speakers also, with sub.

I was thinking about not going through any hassles of building and picking up one of the Dell desktops with an free upgrade flat 19" flat screen. For around $1000. If you guys can make me think other wise with going with some other options that would be great.

Bad idea. Those who know me know I bash Dell for a reason.

For $1000, you could build a relatively decent Athlon 64 system with a nice nVidia 6800* card.

The main reason why u shouldn't buy a dell is because, many of the things u want in your PC build it probably wouldn't have.

1000$ will be a tight fit since u want an LCD, speakers and a good video card but it should be doable if we play our cards right.

My reccomendation is to save at least 200-300 More then itd be a great machine. Just my opinion though.

Since this isn't your first time building a system I would say build this one also. You have to realize that when you get a system from Dell you are getting inferior parts and a load of software you dont need but still have to pay for. Make sure you do your research before you buy and shop around

Notes: The case is really up to you, I just picked one that got good reviews and was around $40. You could save $30 and go with an 80GB hard drive if you wanted and upgrade later. You could also save maybe $100 or more on the monitor by going with a CRT, but you said "flat screen," and I'm assuming you meant LCD. Also, If you did have your heart set on an LCD screen, you could save at least $40 by getting a 17" monitor instead. I wouldn't recommend anything higher than an 8ms response time on an LCD for gaming though. You could take the money you save on the hard drive and monitor, and spend it on a better sound card if that's or your thing, or get better speakers, or whatever you want. The processor is easily overclockable, and the RAM is decent too.

Edit: I forgot to put an OS on there... that'll be about $90 extra if you don't already have one.

3) Option: U could look at getting a $200 crt and gettin a better video card or whatever. U may be disappointed in a $300 or less lcd.....although that benq looks ok...
