I realized alot of you have problems with things starting up when you do not want them too, this is one way (other than quickstart and through the program) to get rid of them. Go Start>>Run>> and type in " msconfig " and if you have any questions past there just ask
 
oh yeah, I dont feel like editing my post, but thats for winXP and maybe or maybe not other windows OS's
 
Third party utilities will give you that capability. Tuneup Utilities 2003 has a start-up manager.

Will find things not listed in msconfig. Not as good as simply viewing your registry, but A lost safer for those who hesitate to do so.

Also there is a program at the above listed site that will monitor and warn you when anything attempts to add itself to startup, giving you the option of disallowing it from doing so. Best to catch them before they even get in your startup. Small, stable, uses minimal resources and FREE.
