I noticed the BIOS setting to shut down the PC if it hits a certain temp. This seems like a great feature in the event your CPU fan would die or something. What's a good temperature to use for shut off?

well prescotts tend to get hot as hell anyway dont they?

I'm not really an intel person, but from what I think I remember is that prescotts get hot in general so maybe 65C maybe 70C at the limit

in on a 3.2 prescott and my warning temp is set to 70.. 50-60 is quite average for my cpu underload.

Thanks, excellent information :) I'll set it at 70.

And Sprooty, thanks for listing your temps under load. I idle at 40 but hit between 50-60 as well even after purchasing a new heat sink and using some artic silver compound. (This is only in the summer with warmer indoor temps, winter it's never an issue)Was starting to think something was wrong :p
