Here's a weird one for all you compu-wizards.

I was sent a .pps file, but I don't have Microsoft PowerPoint in order to view it. So, what I did was change the file's extension from a ".pps" to a ".exe" file, thinking that doing this would cause the program to run when I double-clicked it.

What's happening now is that, not only does the program not run, but I can't do ANYTHING with the file. I can't rename it, move it, delete it, anything. The same holds true even when I have Windows running in safe mode, or when I right-click on the file and change some of the properties attributes.

Any ideas as to how I can get rid of this file? Many thanks.

try booting with a bootable CD or if running FAT32 try remove it from DOS. What OS are you running? Win 2000, XP?

You know you can download a Power Point viewer for only veiwing the slide show..

I'm running Windows ME. Downloading the PowerPoint viewer is a good idea, although I can't do anything about the file that I renamed. I can't even rename it as a .pps again in order to view it.
