Cannot Browse for attachment in XP.

For some reason my computer is freezing when I go to browse for an attachment. A couple of examples would be when I try to attach a file in Outlook. If I click the attach button and then try to browse to the file using the "Look in" box at the top, my computer will freeze. Any program that uses this method to attach files causes this issue.

Anyone have any ideas?

I have already tried cleaning up my computer of too many files, Event Viewer yields no obvious reason.

defrag and check disk?
Have you looked in your path statement to see if you have an invalid entry?
