Hi all,

Where are passords such as Hotmail or even Tech-Forums stored on your hard drive? Is there any way that I can password protect or encrypt this file so that my IT administrator for instance cant get access to it? There isn't a need for him to get access to any passwords I use....

they are stored in a cookies folder, the location of the file depends on which broswer you use

not sure about the encryption. passwords are already in the encrypted form, but as far as encrypting them from you system admin.........not sure

The only thing that you can do is use something like pgp, which is a key encryption tool. That way only the people with your key can get access to it. if you don't give it out, then no one can open it.
EFS won't do it as the local admins can gain access to the encrypted files since it's needed for the admins to do that. In a netowrked environment, you are at the whim of the IT department. I know cause that is where I work :)
