Partitions problem

Today i formated my Disk


I do partitions with Fdisk Same problem came


Primary Partition Unknow Disk

Logical Partition Unknow Disk



Pleas explain me step by step

Hang on. First off, by running fdisk to remake all your partitions, you'll be deleting all of your current data. Are you sure you want to do that? You'll also be deleting your current WinXP install.

If that's alright, here's what you have to do:
Boot to a command prompt from a Win98 install CD or boot disk.
Run fdisk.
Delete all of your current partitions.
Create a new Primary partition.
Create a new extended partition.
Create 3 logical partitions on that extended partition.
Reboot, and install Win98 on the primary partition.
Once installation is complete, reboot.
Boot from the WinXP CD.
Install WinXP on one of the other partitions.
When XP has finished installing, you will have a dual boot system.

But remember, this will everything you have now. There are other ways that won't delete everything, but this is the simplest.

Yes i all deleted our current data and our operating system also.


Then after empy my H.D.D

Then i go to Boot disk.

Run fdisk

First i create Primary 1,2...................100 completed.

But is showing primary partition A unknown pratition what is this Unknown partition i didn't understand.

where is DISK1_VOLU1.......... pleas help me

Did you choose yes for large disk support? You have to choose yes in order to create FAT32 if you choose no you can only create FAT16. After creating the partition make sure you format them.

Hello syedali.
It's awful, I couldn't even imagine that partitionig might be so problematic.
I use partition expert and don't have any trouble. Just easily resize, create, delete, restore partitions-very fast and safely.
Because all your data'll be saved.
Actually I've never resolve such problem, as this software has very good-looking intuitive windows wizard, that makes utilization easier.
Any way I recomend you to use clear and tried solutions, make experiments on your PC can damage your system.

First i boot win98 bootable C/D

a:/fdisk I typed and enter

1)First i created Primary Dos partition 1,2...................100 completed.


Current fixed disk driver:1
Do you wish to use the max available size for a primary dos partition and make the

partution active (Y/N) I told (N)


1,2.........................................100 completed.

Enter partitions size in Mbytes or percent of disk space % to create a primary dos

partition [2047]


I typed enter

Then Escape

2)Second i created Extended Dos Partition

Actually i want three partitions

It is creating wrong or empty empty pratition UNKNOWN partitions

the easiest way to do this is to boot xp create your partitions their and then use partition magic very simple and user friendly
