Hey,
I've been trying to decide on a widescreen LCD to act as a monitor for my PC and (soon to be) Xbox 360.
It has to be widescreen, simply because I would much rather have that for console gaming, and it also has to be fairly large, for viewability reasons.
From the shopping I've done so far (online and off) I've liked both the Dell UltraSharp 2005FPW and the AOC A27W221. Here are links to both:
Dell UltraSharp 2005FPW
AOC A27W221
From what I've read/seen, these are the pros/cons for me:
DELL
PROS: Less expensive; known-name; more flexible; said to have 12ms response time
CONS: Smaller screen; WSXGA+; 300 cd/m²; odd looking speakers/lack thereof (I can't figure if it has speakers, and what looks like them in some shots is exceedingly ugly)
AOC
PROS: Bigger screen; 720p; 550 cd/m²; looks great; speakers
CONS: 16ms response time; costs more; unknown-name; not as flexible
So, please tell me if anything that I have said is incorrect.
Also, how would it rate for gaming? Good? Bad? I've heard that an 8ms response time is needed for good gameplay.
Is $700 a good price for the AOC monitor? What about the Dell's price, is it reasonable?
Has anyone had one of these? How was it?
Does anyone have a similar LCD monitor, for less than $700, that they would recommend?
Thanks for your time.
